[13:22:20] <MGislv> Is there any way I can be of help?
[15:09:55] <KillerWasp> !give MGislv welcome
[15:09:55] <phrik> MGislv: Welcome to #archlinux32, tell us how you fucked up.
[15:11:34] <KillerWasp> !give MGislv ask
[15:11:35] <phrik> MGislv: Don't ask to ask, if anyone is here or alive, or uses something. Just ask, and we'll get moving along. Thanks.
[15:12:28] <MGislv> I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to help with the project
[15:14:04] <MGislv> The forums look dead, the mailing list isn't exactly exclusive to arch32
[15:14:25] <KillerWasp> MGislv: https://wiki.archlinux.org
[15:14:27] <phrik> Title: Getting involved - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)
[15:16:10] <KillerWasp> MGislv: The community is always active, if you ask in the forum or by email they answer you.
[15:17:29] <KillerWasp> MGislv: Generally there are no questions to resolve because archlinux is perfect, so the forum seems inactive. 🙂
[15:19:21] <MGislv> Will try the forums, I was looking for a place where i could help with packaging
[15:20:23] <MGislv> Wanted to spin up archlinux32 on a old machine and contribute back
[15:20:54] <MGislv> Since I will soon have some free time to spare
[15:33:09] <KillerWasp> MGislv: you mean with AUR?
[15:33:34] <MGislv> No, actual arch32 repos
[15:34:05] <MGislv> I've got some packages there already
[15:34:32] <MGislv> That is if there's a need for it
[15:35:25] <KillerWasp> I don't know if it's possible, you have to know how to handle all the packages, and above all you have to have a lot of confidence to be inside.
[15:37:10] <hexagenic> Regarding the linux package. Is there a reason it's being held back at 6.1? I'm running the pentium4 arch on an old eee pc.
[15:37:11] <KillerWasp> MGislv: It seems like an XY problem, what exactly do you need to solve?
[15:37:40] <KillerWasp> you want add new packages in your system?
[15:41:17] <KillerWasp> MGislv: You can solve them with AUR, create your custom PKGBUILD, use it and install it on your system. 🙂
[15:43:26] <MGislv> Indeed, that's the easiest way that i can install a package. I do that all the time on mainline arch
[15:43:56] <hexagenic> KillerWasp: Just curious. I generally only use the netbook for writing, and ssh. So should be fine without the security patches I guess.
[15:45:00] <MGislv> Still, i see a lot of outdated packages. I was wondering if there was some place i could contribute and test updates without going through the TU process
[15:47:16] <MGislv> Not that it's a easy thing, or something quick. The opposite
[15:48:43] <KillerWasp> MGislv: I don't think they'll let you, but you could try. By the way, are you also hexagenic?
[15:49:31] <hexagenic> Sorry, I just remembered my question when I saw your conversation
[15:49:49] <KillerWasp> and which's the obsolete packages that you want add?
[15:50:05] <KillerWasp> hexagenic: oh.
[15:52:10] <MGislv> Even without adding new packages, the list of outdated ones seems endless
[15:53:24] <KillerWasp> MGislv: I don't know what you're talking about, I always see that they are updating every day.
[15:54:52] <MGislv> I'm mainly referring to updates stuck in staging
[15:55:23] <MGislv> I'm sorting by "Last Updated" in the package index
[15:56:17] <MGislv> I'm sure the base system is looked after
[16:01:37] <hexagenic> If packages aren't being updated, it's probably because there are too few people using them. Adopting those would not solve anything
[16:12:59] <MGislv> The more packages are neglected, the less people will use the distribution.
[16:12:59] <MGislv> Then again I may just be splitting hairs
