[08:28:07] <cn> hmm. it seems python-pyqt6 and python-pyqt6-webengine gets installed to /usr/lib/python3.10. it's also the case with python-adblock. (i'm trying to get qutebrowser to work lol)
[08:28:39] <KitsuWhooa> these packages were either unable to be built against the latest python (very likely) or the packages are in extra-staging
[08:29:09] <KitsuWhooa> https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org
[08:29:36] <KitsuWhooa> I don't think I ever got qt6-webengine building
[08:30:19] <cn> that's too bad
[08:48:13] <cn> idk, maybe it's a lost cause to try to browse the net in 2024 with a 900mhz 1gb machine
[08:49:36] <cn> i got luakit running, but its tabs tend to crash. even a single tab, requesting some github repo
[08:51:56] <KitsuWhooa> I had webkit2gtk working on my pentium 3 laptop a few months ago
[08:52:29] <KitsuWhooa> I used the test browser that ships with it, but epiphany should also work
[08:52:36] <KitsuWhooa> assuming it isn't broken in other ways
[08:54:13] <cn> webkit2gtk is what's powering luakit as well, but i'll see if i get any better performance out of using the test browser
[08:55:08] <KitsuWhooa> performance? probably not :p
[08:57:54] <cn> probably not!
[08:59:29] <KitsuWhooa> and if you're looking for web multimedia, your best bet is mpv+yt-dlp with --vo=xv
[08:59:43] <KitsuWhooa> and a low default res
[08:59:46] <KitsuWhooa> (it actually works)
[09:00:24] <KitsuWhooa> if you actually want to get stuff done, you should use w3m + urxvt or similar terminal that supports images
[09:00:42] <KitsuWhooa> (technically urxvt doesn't support images, but w3m does x11 hacks to make it work)
[09:01:25] <cn> i've been thinking about that route as well. i guess what i'm after is a way to look up information
[09:01:42] <KitsuWhooa> I have a script that fires up w3m in ddg
[09:01:50] <cn> i have offloaded web browsing to a beefier machine but that feels like cheating :p
[09:01:50] <KitsuWhooa> don't have it with me unfortunately, but it's something really simple
[09:02:14] <KitsuWhooa> I always go for w3m unless js is needed
[09:17:51] <cn> ah, i got images to work with my setup with -sixel :) and reading the man page, it seems i just gotta set WWW_HOME to a desired url and w3m will launch that when no other url is provided
[09:25:30] <KitsuWhooa> never used sizel
[09:25:32] <KitsuWhooa> s/z/x/
[09:50:32] <cn> this also seems interesting https://sr.ht
