[08:59:53] <deep42thought> :-D
[09:28:30] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:29:05] <abaumann> guys: the software should use dlopen for every opt feature in a module concept and the packages should be xxx-netcdf etc.
[09:29:36] <abaumann> the problem is C++ doens't play well with dlopen, you have to be damn careful (basically export C functions and no exceptions)
[09:29:55] <abaumann> C++3001 will introduce a modular programming language, I'm sure. ;-)
[09:30:27] <abaumann> (oups: already used my "one synical remark a day" bonus) :-)

[19:23:17] <marquisor> hi
[19:27:25] <marquisor> i want to use i686 arch on an old rig. where can i find latest i686 repo and can i use it without updates anymore? so that i at least can install until date xx-xx-2017 if i need something.
[19:29:49] <marquisor> Vollzornbrot!
[19:35:22] <marquisor> no rolling release just frozen at point x (most recent before support dropped) complete archive
[19:37:44] <marquisor> i think i'd just mirror https://archive.archlinux.org*?
[19:38:10] <marquisor> w/o x86_64
[19:43:37] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[19:44:26] <abaumann> marquisor: hi
[19:44:44] <abaumann> Did you check out the migration to Archlinux32 repos, see https://www.archlinux32.org
[19:44:45] <phrik> Title: Arch Linux 32 (at www.archlinux32.org)
[19:44:54] <abaumann> 'Transition from the Official Repositories'
[19:47:06] <marquisor> yes, but i don't need any updates or i686 fixed x86_64 packages, i can live with repos frozen at xx.xx.2017
[19:48:33] <abaumann> I'm sorry, but we don't keep any official archives.. we are rolling.
[19:48:33] <marquisor> i guess i just may not use pacman -Syu and redirect to my own mirror
[19:48:46] <abaumann> maybe the others in the group have some old mirrors laying around.
[19:48:58] <abaumann> that's an idea.
[19:49:00] <marquisor> https://archive.archlinux.org
[19:49:02] <phrik> Title: Index of / (at archive.archlinux.org)
[19:49:07] <marquisor> this is an old mirror?
[19:49:23] <abaumann> yes.
[19:49:34] <abaumann> and it even has the old i686 packages still there.
[19:49:39] <marquisor> but it does not have complete packages you mean?
[19:49:43] <marquisor> only updates
[19:49:46] <marquisor> at specific date
[19:49:54] <marquisor> because of rolling
[19:49:57] <abaumann> ah.
[19:50:03] <abaumann> but there are also all old isos there.
[19:50:07] <marquisor> yep
[19:50:16] <abaumann> and archlinux bootstrap
[19:50:50] <marquisor> til 03/2017
[19:51:03] <abaumann> that was the last i686 iso in archlinux.
[19:51:06] <marquisor> yo
[19:51:15] <abaumann> there are of course new ones on archlinux32.org
[19:51:28] <marquisor> so this is the latest i would use https://archive.archlinux.org
[19:51:28] <phrik> Title: Index of /repos/2017/03/ (at archive.archlinux.org)
[19:51:38] <marquisor> even maybe a month or so back
[19:51:43] <marquisor> or january
[19:52:30] <marquisor> ah i see
[19:52:40] <marquisor> 01/2017 core repo: https://archive.archlinux.org
[19:52:40] <phrik> Title: Index of /repos/2017/01/31/core/os/i686/ (at archive.archlinux.org)
[19:52:49] <marquisor> has ALL core packages.
[19:53:01] <marquisor> not only updated ones at 2017-01-31
[19:53:08] <abaumann> all should have all the packages at the given day.
[19:53:12] <marquisor> yep
[19:53:14] <marquisor> nice
[19:53:16] <marquisor> good
[19:53:39] <abaumann> just out of curiosity: why don't you want to update anymore?
[19:53:55] <marquisor> because i don't want the hassle
[19:54:03] <marquisor> it's an old rig
[19:54:16] <abaumann> ah. it's just a machine sitting in the corner and doing what it should be doing.
[19:54:19] <abaumann> :-)
[19:54:19] <marquisor> just for some simple recovery, scripting, sandbox stuff
[19:54:22] <marquisor> yep
[19:54:25] <abaumann> ok. I see.
[19:54:27] <marquisor> nothing for productivity
[19:54:52] <marquisor> i don't want to fix any issues, just to have the latest stuff i won't need.
[19:55:00] <marquisor> that's the idea
[19:55:53] <marquisor> so i guess i'll go for my own repo on a fileserver at 2017-01-31 and somehow keep pacman -Syu idiot proof ;)
[19:56:45] <abaumann> yeah. Just set up your own mirror and keep it stable. Should do the trick.
[19:56:50] <marquisor> archive.archlinux.org doesn't have an ftp? does it?
[19:57:09] <abaumann> I don't think so.
[19:57:21] <marquisor> ok, downthemall! in firefox then ^^

[19:58:53] <marquisor> sounds good
[19:58:56] <abaumann> yes. sometimes this is very handy. :-)
[19:59:32] <abaumann> deep42thought, tyzoid: let's me ponder.. we don't have an archive for i686 at the moment in archlinux32?
[20:20:36] -!- abaumann has quit [Quit: leaving]
