[04:57:46] <ParkerR> Is there still a fairly easy way to get an i686 chroot working on 64bit Arch? The old wiki page just redriects to the archived page (saying it no longer exists)

[05:36:53] <guys> ParkerR: I don't see why not, the basic idea is to install a full operating system (minus init system and kernel) into a directory :)
[05:37:44] <ParkerR> guys, Yeah I got it working via the main archlinux32 repo, modified pacman.conf for i686, and pacstrap
[05:37:57] <ParkerR> Resolving the PGP signature now since it wont continue lol
[05:52:50] <ParkerR> Ok cool installing transition to host and then the regular archlinux32 worked
[05:52:56] <ParkerR> Pacstrap is continuing

[14:54:19] <deep42thought> Hmm, my new archlinux32 box still ocassionally freezes and I have no idea why
[14:55:01] <deep42thought> I'd like to see what it attempts to do right before freezing, but I have no idea how to get such dumps

[16:09:53] -!- yokel has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[16:11:10] <deep42thought> I'll let titus_livius stay in here for a few more days, but eventually, I'll remove his presence here.
[16:11:25] <deep42thought> Can anyone invite phrik to #archlinux32?
[16:12:52] -!- yokel has joined #archlinux-ports
[16:17:22] <deep42thought> hmm, I wanted to compile a custom kernel in order to make sure no unintended opcodes are in there, but my "git clone" of my local kernel source code clone is now (@ 92%) almost stalled, copying ~ 1 "object" per 5 seconds or so :-/
[16:17:55] <deep42thought> ... but the machine did not yet crash again
[16:20:54] -!- mode/#archlinux-ports [-o tyzoid] by ChanServ
[16:40:56] <guys> deep42thought: the kernel is... quite large. I recommend you clone with --depth=1
[16:43:46] <deep42thought> it's over local network only
[16:44:19] <deep42thought> but: yeah, depth=100 solved the issue :-)

[17:00:01] <deep42thought> btw: if anyone thinks, that someone deserves a archlinux32/* cloak, drop me a note
[17:28:28] * tyzoid changes nick to someone
[17:41:27] <girls> tyzoid: you already got a cloak ...

[21:33:52] -!- archymedes has joined #archlinux-ports
[21:37:54] <archymedes> hello, can I ask some problem here about archlinux 32 bits?
[21:38:33] <deep42thought> archymedes: sure, go ahead
[21:38:38] <archymedes> Networkmanager cannot start during boot after update
[21:38:54] <archymedes> how can I upload some picture? is it possible here?
[21:39:01] <bill-auger> sahno
[21:39:38] <archymedes> sudo systemctl status NetworkManager.service says "Start request repeated too quickly"
[21:39:47] <archymedes> "failed with result "exit-code"
[21:40:50] <archymedes> Process: 347 ExecStart=/usr/bin/NetworkManager --no-daemon (code=exited, status=127)
[21:41:22] <deep42thought> can you start it manually?
[21:41:47] <archymedes> return error too
[21:42:00] <deep42thought> and running the command under ExecStart=...?
[21:42:04] <archymedes> with "enable" no error, but with "start" yes
[21:42:12] <deep42thought> enable just creates a symlink
[21:42:27] <archymedes> how can I do that?
[21:42:42] <deep42thought> "/usr/bin/NetworkManager --no-daemon"
[21:43:56] <archymedes> I do not know how to run commands under ExecStart
[21:44:07] <archymedes> can you tell me the command?
[21:44:41] <deep42thought> "systemctl cat NetworkManager" shows you the unit file
[21:44:48] <archymedes> ok
[21:44:53] <deep42thought> and there should stand the command after ExecStart=...
[21:45:25] -!- oaken-source has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
[21:45:35] <deep42thought> I don't use networkmanager myself, so my help is somewhat generic :-/
[21:47:00] <archymedes> after run sudo /usr/bin/NetworkManager --no-daemon, says "error while loading shared libraries: libpsl.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[21:47:11] <deep42thought> oh
[21:47:28] <deep42thought> !wtf libpsl.so
[21:47:28] <phrik> deep42thought: core/libpsl
[21:48:15] <guys> maybe you broke the rebuild we broke
[21:48:33] <archymedes> I think something is about that happened to 64 bit archlinux, about update of vlc to v3.0
[21:48:35] <guys> https://bugs.archlinux.org https://bugs.archlinux.org
[21:48:37] <phrik> Title: FS#57890 : NetworkManager service fails to start. (at bugs.archlinux.org)
[21:49:03] <archymedes> I'm going to read it, thanks
[21:49:26] <deep42thought> well, then I'll need to re-install the buildmaster and we can fetch updates and compile that package, too
[21:49:50] <guys> seems quite odd anyway, libpsl versioning went down?
[21:50:00] <deep42thought> no
[21:50:05] <deep42thought> we have .6 in core currently
[21:50:22] <guys> https://www.archlinux.org
[21:50:23] <phrik> Title: Arch Linux - Todo: libpsl soname bump (at www.archlinux.org)

[21:50:59] <phrik> Title: Regression libpsl.so.6 -> libpsl.so.5.3.0 · Issue #93 · rockdaboot/libpsl · GitHub (at github.com)
[21:51:58] <archymedes> I tried to symlink as https://bugs.archlinux.org but says that libpsl.so.5 does not exists
[21:51:58] <phrik> Title: FS#57891 : NetworkManager 1.10.6-1 fails to start (at bugs.archlinux.org)
[21:52:26] <guys> archymedes: don't symlink, that's a really bad idea
[21:52:41] <guys> why do you think sonames change in the first place?
[21:52:46] <deep42thought> archive.archlinux32.org might have the correct version
[21:53:36] <archymedes> but I cannot update, no ethernet and no wireless connection
[21:53:44] <deep42thought> ah :-(
[21:54:06] <archymedes> and no wifi-menu because I have not "dialog" package
[21:54:08] <archymedes> hehehe
[21:54:24] <guys> I guess you could revert packages to what you had before the update
[21:54:24] <archymedes> bad karma
[21:55:20] <archymedes> what packages? because it was a big update, plasma, kernel....
[21:56:04] <archymedes> and maybe I deleted the cache...bad habit
[21:57:16] <guys> don't delete the cache before you know things work :p
[21:57:31] <guys> But you should be able to transfer the new networkmanager packages via USB
[21:57:42] <archymedes> i have the cache!!!
[21:57:55] <archymedes> maybe reinstall networkmanager?
[22:02:22] <deep42thought> reinstall libpsl?
[22:02:44] -!- archymedes has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
[22:03:32] <guys> deep42thought: so you upgraded to libpsl 6 but networkmanager is still built against libpsl 5?
[22:03:46] -!- buildmaster has joined #archlinux-ports
[22:03:53] <deep42thought> looks, like it is
[22:03:55] <guys> Also upstream sucks for not just rolling with their mistake :(
[22:04:37] <deep42thought> Hi buildmaster, welcome back!
[22:07:06] -!- archymedes has joined #archlinux-ports
[22:09:25] <archymedes> Eyyy guys!!! I solved the problem with networkmanager!!! I installed the networkmanager from the repo and installed the new version by USB
[22:09:49] <guys> that's what I said
[22:10:36] <archymedes> thanks a lot!!!
[22:11:14] <archymedes> I saw what you said and I did it
[22:12:33] <archymedes> good night, and good archlinux :-p
