[07:23:21] <bill-auger> it has some very nice features like cascading rebuilds
[07:23:58] <bill-auger> i.e. if package 'foo' is rebuilt then every dependent package of 'foof' is automatically scheduled for a rebuild
[07:24:35] <bill-auger> that could hep an awful lot whenever icu comes to vist
[07:26:13] <girls> yeah, we're mostly relying on upstream regarding this
[07:27:58] <bill-auger> we have too many custom packages though - it usually takes days to a week before every ice dependent is working again
[07:29:41] <bill-auger> the real motivation now is that they are working on ports to riscv and power9 - which means building the entire system for each with nothing from any upstream
[07:31:00] <girls> they're not using upstream's PKGBUILDs?
[07:31:26] <girls> ... because we also do not use upstream's binary packages
[07:31:30] <bill-auger> yea we got those
[07:31:49] <girls> if e.g. icu is updated, all recompiled dependent packages will receive a pkgrel bump
[07:31:55] <girls> e.g. the PKGBUILD will change
[07:32:08] <girls> you then "just" need to figure out the correct order to build them
[07:32:20] <girls> but anyway, I gotta go. Will be back in ~1h

[09:21:27] <oaken-source> it's probably a wrong combination of flags to the cross compiler, but what exactly needs to be changed I have no idea
