[10:25:52] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[10:25:59] <deep42thought> eworm: no
[10:26:02] <deep42thought> :-D
[10:27:15] <deep42thought> the list of broken packages is currently quite long
[10:27:23] <deep42thought> and there is a glibc update in the pipeline
[10:27:35] <deep42thought> so most/all packages need to be moved in one step, I fear
[10:27:35] -!- oaken-source has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[10:33:21] <deep42thought> I marked all packages built befor 2018-05-16 as "tested" - let's see if that releases the lock on xorg-server
[10:40:27] <eworm> No, xorg-server is from 2018-05-18
[10:41:15] <eworm> Looks like I have to wait some time
[10:46:56] <deep42thought> yeah, some x-stuff was moved, but xorg-server was not
[10:47:20] <deep42thought> (the package(s) itself are marked as tested, but some dependencies/dependent packages are not apparently)
[10:56:04] <buildmaster> deepin-wallpapers is broken (says eurobuild3).

[16:55:43] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[17:02:43] <tyzoid> wb
[17:02:48] <abaumann> ah hi. :-)
[17:03:04] <abaumann> doing some patching. :-)
[17:04:00] <tyzoid> nice. PAE? or something else?
[17:04:15] <abaumann> no. basic stuff. just getting the list of broken packages to normal size again.
[17:04:40] <abaumann> glibc/binutils bugs start to kreep up, ld error in 'radare2'.
[17:04:56] <abaumann> So, I think, it's time to do a binutils backport (if possible) and a glibc rebuild
[17:05:41] <tyzoid> to the archive!
[17:06:17] <abaumann> :-)

[17:58:26] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[17:58:41] <deep42thought> Hi tyzoid, abaumann!
[17:58:54] <deep42thought> what exactly do you have in mind?
[17:59:07] <deep42thought> nail down glibc, gcc, binutils to the old, working version?
[18:11:29] <abaumann> Hi.
[18:11:55] <abaumann> Not really, one option is to port the fix from branch_2_30 or master as patch to the current binutils.
[18:12:17] <abaumann> or use the git version temporarily (because lots of things have been fixed which have been broken).
[18:13:02] <abaumann> I don't think we will see a binutils 2.30.1 or 2.31 soon..
[18:13:13] <deep42thought> then I would backport relevant (all?) changes from git
[18:13:29] <deep42thought> this will also automatically break with the next update :-)
[18:13:37] <abaumann> :-)
[18:15:59] -!- bill-auger has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[18:16:52] <deep42thought> abaumann: do you have any specific version in mind, which we should use?

[18:19:06] <abaumann> The problem is: bfd/elfxx-x86.c looks quite different in 2.30 than in the branch..
[18:19:10] <abaumann> ..or 2.31..
[18:19:56] <deep42thought> the 'git clone' is sooooo slow ...

[18:20:19] <abaumann> yes, and binutils is not exactly small. :-)

[18:21:08] <phrik> Title:GitHub - bminor/binutils-gdb: Unofficial mirror of sourceware binutils-gdb repository. Updated daily. (at github.com)
[18:21:57] <abaumann> yes.
[18:22:25] <abaumann> nice :-)
[18:30:15] <deep42thought> well, we can, of course, apply a huge patch, which makes the downloaded version to 88193e0 :-/
[18:31:02] <abaumann> yeah. I'm almost afraid that's what we have to do..

[20:03:02] <abaumann> mmh. on testing/staging Xorg just hangs
[20:03:32] <abaumann> > Internal error: Could not resolve keysym XF86WWAN
[20:03:35] <abaumann> > Internal error: Could not resolve keysym XF86RFKill
[20:03:44] <abaumann> most likely not fatal.
[20:03:46] <abaumann> failed to add fb -22
[20:04:42] <tyzoid> those look like the laptop function keys for wireless device control

[20:25:40] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[20:38:10] <tyzoid> abaumann: So what's the issue with glibc again?
[20:38:27] <tyzoid> is glibc itself broken? or things around it?
[21:45:18] <abaumann> glibc builds a elf/bfd library and the linker (ld from binutils) segfaults.
[21:45:42] <abaumann> glibc is built in a very special way with versioned/hidden symbols, thus triggering a corner case in the linker.
[21:46:02] <abaumann> so most software should build just fine, only a glibc rebuild is not possible.
[21:46:35] <abaumann> now with the advent of gcc 8.1 it's not good to keep the old binutils and glibc around, because subtle issues could arise.

[21:58:03] <abaumann> aha: x11 was running with cirrus emulation (yack!), this seems to be quite broken.
[21:58:32] <abaumann> everything is ok. :-)
