Back
[00:39:17] <eschwartz> deep42thought: I finally sat down and debugged why my i686 chroot could not build, turns out that abaumann's key was expired and I needed an updated keyring from testing o_O
[00:39:45] <eschwartz> welp, now on to building pacman-static 5.2.1
[02:22:36] <djmoch> if abaumann's key is expired in the official archlinux32-keyring package, shouldn't it be updated there so users don't have to go manually download it off a keyserver?
[02:24:41] <djmoch> as it is a.) i can't even get a damn keyserver to work at the moment, and b.) with all the security issues around public keyservers, keeping the keys up-to-date in the package seems less prone to security/DoS concerns
[02:25:54] <eschwartz> djmoch: I presume so, yes
[02:26:47] <eschwartz> I used --refresh-key since I was too lazy to copy packages around (I only have a stable chroot, and use it to build exactly one package, that being pacman-static)
[02:27:18] <djmoch> i'm not going to knock anyone for going that route
[02:27:40] <djmoch> for some reason pool.sks-keyservers.net and pgp.mit.edu aren't working for me ATM
[02:28:09] <djmoch> so i'm effectively dead in the water
[02:28:25] <eschwartz> pgp.mit.edu never work for anyone :/
[02:28:42] <eschwartz> pool.sks-keyservers.net is "we'll randomly choose you one"
[02:28:43] <djmoch> but sks-keyservers?
[02:28:47] <djmoch> right
[02:28:59] <djmoch> tried na.pool.sks-keyservers.net as well
[02:29:01] <eschwartz> it's not an actual keyserver, it is a geoip load balancer
[02:29:19] <djmoch> also ha.pool ... which is supposed to be a high-availability cluster
[02:29:22] <eschwartz> personally I just use keyserver.ubuntu.com, it's very stable :p
[02:29:31] <djmoch> i'll give it a shot
[02:32:27] <djmoch> that worked
[02:32:42] <eschwartz> :D
[02:32:48] <eschwartz> ubuntu++
[02:34:02] <djmoch> TIL pacman-key --refresh
[02:34:50] <djmoch> hopefully the key will get updated in the official package soon? i can't think i'm the only newb who feels stuck when a key is expired...
[02:37:05] <eschwartz> djmoch: given the usual approach in archlinux is to tell people "oops, we goofed, but you can recover by using pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring && pacman -Su"... I hope so.

[05:47:18] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[05:47:18] <buildmaster> !rq deep42thought
[05:47:20] <phrik> buildmaster: <deep42thought> I like to move it, move it; I like to move it, move it
[05:47:45] <deep42thought> eschwartz/djmoch: sry, I totally forgot to move the keyring to stable - I have done so now
[05:49:06] <deep42thought> and: yes, it is planned, that the nit-picker checks for outrunning keys/signatures against the keyring, not against my locally installed keys - so we should get a head-start in the future

[11:18:45] <djmoch> deep42thought: that's great! nit-picker is exactly the kind of tool i would hope to see.
[11:22:07] <deep42thought> djmoch: de buildmaster already does a lot of checks, but we source out all tedious sanity-checks to nit-picker
[11:22:55] <deep42thought> it was simply something, that I did not think of: keys being expired in the keyring package, but not in /etc/pacman.d/gnupg (on my machine, here)
[11:23:23] <deep42thought> additionally, we now also check the master keys (one of which is expired since may - without anybody noticing)
[11:29:03] <T`aZ> those bots are flooding my logs :p
[11:29:09] <deep42thought> :-/
[11:29:14] <deep42thought> is this a serious issue?
[11:29:21] <T`aZ> no it's not, obviously :p
[11:29:26] <deep42thought> ah, ok
[11:29:39] <deep42thought> I though, you were joking, but I was not sure
[11:29:54] <deep42thought> well, if the buildmaster is flooding, you can alwas tell him to shut up ;-)
[11:29:54] <buildmaster> Sorry, I will do.
[11:29:56] <T`aZ> i'll ignore them :p
