[07:12:26] <abaumann> MediumD: this sounds like - as deep42thought pointed out - circular rebuilds in Haskell where always some hashes don't match..
[07:12:42] <abaumann> ..having hashes in Haskell libraries instead of ABIs for shared libraries is a dumb idea (TM)
[07:13:08] <abaumann> I can only think of retrigerring all haskell packages and do a complete rebuild

[07:24:30] <abaumann> morning deep42thought
[07:24:47] <abaumann> bazooka: the gum or the gun? ;-)
[07:25:03] <deep42thought> I thought of the gun
[07:26:22] <abaumann> I also fear just rebuilding all haskell packets just results in a slightly different broken situation for some other modules
[07:26:30] <deep42thought> yeah
[07:26:37] <deep42thought> question: how does upstream solve this?
[07:26:59] <abaumann> good question. do they do a full rebuild and in some special order?
[07:27:18] <deep42thought> maybe *some* packages do not break if dependencies are rebuilt?
[07:27:29] <deep42thought> e.g. because the actually do *not* run-depend on them?
[07:28:32] <abaumann> I know too little of Haskell..
[07:29:12] <deep42thought> the question is rather, if some of those packages have their dependencies entered in the wrong place (e.g. "depends=()" instead of "makedepends=()")
[07:29:31] <abaumann> ah.
[07:33:16] <deep42thought> maaan, I need a keyring package for my repository key
[07:33:39] <deep42thought> it expired and now I need to run `pacman-key --refresh-keys` on a dozen machines or so

[12:47:56] <MediumD> Hi, I hope it is still ok to ask all the time... so still question: When starting programs my shared libraries seem to be misconfigured. eg hledger demans "error while loading shared libraries: liHSwizards-1.0.3-[HASH].ghz8.8.3.so" but the [hash] (I guess its a hash?) does not match with the file in filesystem. [12:50:14] <deep42thought> s/me/us/
[12:51:24] <MediumD> hledger | hledger-web | hledger-ui
[12:52:14] <MediumD> is there a way on how I could fix this myself? Like building it locally or so?
[12:54:33] <deep42thought> you build them locally, yes
[12:54:49] <deep42thought> there is asp to check out the sources and then there is devtools to actually build it
[12:55:03] * deep42thought checks whether those have the 32 suffix on archlinux32 itself, woo
[12:56:08] * abaumann installs hledger hledger-web hledger-ui
[12:56:28] <abaumann> completely different corner: firefox 74.0 works on i686 :-)
[12:56:32] <abaumann> with 600 MB RAM.
[12:56:36] <abaumann> and a lot of swap :-)
[12:57:11] <MediumD> can you recommend some tutorial or wiki page on that?
[12:57:22] * abaumann listens to Corona music in his flat..
[12:57:57] <deep42thought> MediumD: sry, we don't have any
[12:58:02] <deep42thought> maybe there is one in the upstream wiki
[12:58:25] <MediumD> I see :D maybe its a bad idea to go with arch32 for a beginner?
[12:58:47] <deep42thought> well, arch on its own might be overwhelming for a beginner ;-)
[12:59:21] <MediumD> true dat. but im willing to try, as long as I dont annoy you too much :D
[12:59:42] <deep42thought> no, you don't annoy (me)
[12:59:51] <abaumann> actually we like things to get used, so they get tested. :-)
[12:59:55] <deep42thought> https://wiki.archlinux.org
[12:59:55] <phrik> Title: Arch Build System - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)
[13:00:05] <MediumD> wow. thank you!
[13:02:32] <MediumD> I would need a different svn not the official arch one, right?
[13:02:46] <deep42thought> if you use asp on archlinux32, you'll get the right one automatically
[13:02:55] <MediumD> ok
[13:03:00] <deep42thought> if you're building on x86_64, you'll need asp32 and devtools32 from our [releng]
[13:03:04] <deep42thought> (check out the mirrors)
[13:04:34] <abaumann> an 'lddtree /usr/bin/hledger' shows mainly None's
[13:05:02] <deep42thought> :-/
[13:05:12] <abaumann> libHSwizards-1.0.3-6ZZmIj3CU2FA1xyhcf9Ofx-ghc8.8.3.so
[13:05:19] <abaumann> ghc is 8.6.5
[13:05:38] <deep42thought> abaumann: if you could look into this, it would be great - I'm a little busy, currently
[13:05:55] <abaumann> I can try, but I'm really no Haskell expert..
[13:06:03] <abaumann> ..I'll most likely go with the bazooka :-)
[13:07:07] <deep42thought> at least: bazooka != weapon of mass destruction
[13:07:36] <MediumD> so its basically an outdated haskell version, right?
[13:07:44] <deep42thought> some part of it, yes
[13:07:52] <abaumann> yeah.
[13:07:54] <deep42thought> well "outdated" is a little ambiguous here
[13:08:01] <abaumann> My hope was that ghc has not been published to stable
[13:08:08] <abaumann> though most modules have.
[13:08:25] <abaumann> this can easily happen, if some packages don't rebuild and depend on ghc, I think?
[13:08:51] <deep42thought> say, you have haskell-a which depends on haskell-b: you build haskell-b, then haskell-a and then the same version of haskell-b again (for whatever reason) - then haskell-a is broken with the kind of error that you currently see
[13:09:01] <deep42thought> ^MediumD
[13:09:07] <MediumD> I see
[13:10:42] <MediumD> can I get these shared libraries to ignore the hash? so like a wildcard-link libHSwizards-1.0.3-*.so?
[13:10:54] <deep42thought> no, not that I know of
[13:11:17] <abaumann> I'm trying to push some stuff to i686/stable
[13:11:20] <abaumann> just for testing
[13:11:33] <MediumD> thanks for the help!

[14:02:14] <abaumann> Archlinux32 is an effort to keep 32-bit alive for Archlinux.. we are always a little bit short on hands..
[14:02:27] <abaumann> ..lot's of things don't get tested, as they deserve.
[14:02:51] <abaumann> and Corona is not helping.. funny.. I have tons more stuff to do in the office since the lockdown..
[14:03:14] <abaumann> ..and deep42thought has his own problems with "little terrorists" at home.. ;-)
[14:03:44] <abaumann> why do you use 32-bit, btw
[14:05:01] <MediumD> I found this old Medion notebook in the attic which only serves 32bits and my sister said "if you want to learn it the right way, do arch" - arch32 was the try then :D
[14:05:16] <abaumann> ah. good advice then. :-)
[14:05:58] <MediumD> the screen is big, the keyboard is ok and my main notebook needs windows for work... So I thought of creating an office machine for financial planning|bookeeping|invoices|etc also I could try some nginx stuff without crashing my sisters server :D
[14:06:14] <deep42thought> abaumann: if it's too much effort, just rebuild *all* of haskell, and then move *all* of the successfully built haskell-* packages
[14:06:50] <deep42thought> the broken ones are lost causes most probably, anyways
[14:06:52] <abaumann> deep42thought: yeah, that's what I'm planning to do, but first I have to clean all my slaves again.. they had some hickups.
