[23:07:04] <stipa> wifi repeater, are there anyone with experience how tp ge bandwidth at the other side?
[23:07:24] <stipa> full bandwidth*
[23:07:53] <stipa> with actual practical experience
[23:08:27] <stipa> the pnly way i got it
[23:08:32] <stipa> only*
[23:09:43] <stipa> is wifi sta parprouted to ethernet interface > ethernet cable > machine with ap bridged with ethernet interface that is connected to the machine before
[23:10:17] <stipa> with ethernet cable
[23:10:24] <stipa> that works full speed
[23:10:42] <stipa> no shitty hop penalty of half bandwidth at the other side
[23:10:51] <stipa> now
[23:11:00] <stipa> if i have two wifi radios
[23:11:06] <stipa> in one machine
[23:11:28] <stipa> one is managed connected to the ap
[23:11:55] <stipa> and the other is ap interface serving as ap of repeated signal from the ap before
[23:12:20] <stipa> if i proxyarp ap interface to manged interface
[23:12:31] <stipa> i should get 100% bandwidth
[23:12:35] <stipa> but i get 50%
[23:12:56] <stipa> i tried it on many combinations nad few machines i have at home
[23:13:24] <stipa> can anone do full bandwith repeater on Linux?
[23:13:39] <stipa> on one machine with two wifi radios
[23:14:24] <stipa> seems to me after all that madness that linux kernel can't do that
[23:14:55] <stipa> having two machines to do wifi repeating is just a waste of resources
[23:15:14] <stipa> but i may be wrong
[23:15:47] <stipa> does anyone has any tricks to do it on one machine?
[23:16:05] <stipa> the full repetition of bandwidth on a wifi repeater
[23:16:20] <stipa> with two wifi radios?
[23:25:18] <T`aZ_> tried setting them to use different channels ?
[23:25:59] <T`aZ_> not sure i understand your issue though
[23:26:00] <stipa> no
[23:26:19] <stipa> hmmm
[23:26:21] -!- MrBIOS has joined #archlinux32
[23:26:38] <T`aZ_> if it's on the smae channel, then by definition of the wifi protocol, only one client/ap can talk at the same time
[23:27:02] <stipa> it's
[23:27:06] <T`aZ_> so if you try to repead the same data, ot the same channel, then it will use 2 times the bandwidth, and thus will be shared
[23:27:20] <stipa> AP > clinet > AP > client/s
[23:27:54] <T`aZ_> you mean AP1 > client > AP2 > client2 , and all of that on the same channel ?
[23:28:21] <stipa> AP1 and client have to be on the sam channel
[23:28:25] <stipa> client1
[23:28:27] <T`aZ_> obviously you'll get half the max speed, at most, and linux has not even entered the equation here
[23:28:56] <stipa> ok
[23:29:07] <stipa> i'll try to put different channel on AP2
[23:29:47] <T`aZ_> a channel = shared resources, half duplex (short version)
[23:30:19] <stipa> i'm not that deep
[23:30:32] <stipa> that's probably OSI layer 2 or 1
[23:31:07] <stipa> judging by your idea it seems like packets carry channel inside
[23:31:41] <stipa> i'll try your combination
[23:31:48] <stipa> T`aZ_:10x
[23:32:40] <T`aZ_> well, ethernet on wifi is not the most pleasing experience :p
[23:32:56] <stipa> nope
[23:32:58] <T`aZ_> im just starting to learn about it, so im not an expert
[23:33:09] <stipa> especilly the info onlone
[23:33:16] <stipa> online*
[23:33:20] <stipa> it sux big time
[23:33:49] <stipa> seem to me like everyone are copying some shitty info
[23:33:52] <stipa> and noone tried it
[23:34:00] <T`aZ_> but the max speed you get, is the theretical limit when you have no noise, and an unidirectional traffic from opne AP to the client (or the reverse), but it is shared, if you have 2 clients on the same AP, speed will be divided by 2 for each client
[23:34:39] <stipa> yeah
[23:34:51] <T`aZ_> (assuming each client trying to send data s much as possible)
[23:35:02] <stipa> i get the bandwodth share betweene two clients on the same AP
[23:35:19] <stipa> sometimes it's not so 50/50 share
[23:35:22] <stipa> but
[23:35:27] <stipa> what can you do
[23:36:43] <T`aZ_> no it's triky, you have the speed regulation of the wifi adapters (both from the clients and AP) , and on top of that, the regular tcp protocol tweaking sending speed, so it wont be 50/50, but should be close enough
[23:38:01] <T`aZ_> if the driver permits it, you can try disable power saving, it will gain you a tiny bit of speed
[23:39:39] <T`aZ_> but this wont solve your wifi getting speed/2 whe you duplicate the traffic :p
[23:40:53] <stipa> right
[23:40:59] <stipa> no power saving overhere
[23:41:09] <stipa> just full speed all the way
[23:41:13] <stipa> or half
[23:41:39] <stipa> i'll try with the channels
[23:41:44] <stipa> different ones
[23:41:54] <stipa> after that i quit
[23:42:18] <stipa> i'll check right now
[23:42:26] <stipa> i have channels in the scripts
[23:44:18] <stipa> yeah
[23:44:24] <stipa> two same channels
[23:44:34] <stipa> channel 1
[23:58:55] <stipa> T`aZ_: changing xhannels made thing worse
[23:59:20] <stipa> like 30% of bandwidth at the other side
